A Conversation with Roger Walsh on The World of Shamanism

Dear Reader, I am very happy to introduce you to our next two podcast episodes in which I interview my friend and co-host Dr. Roger Walsh! I have been waiting for just Roger and myself to have this conversation for over three years, and now we have done it. I think it’s great, and that we had a very powerful experience in the logos that flowed through our conversation. The reason I was able to convince Roger to be the subject of our podcast is the publishing of the second edition of his seminal work, The World of Shamanism. A great overview and integral approach into the roots of our most ancient spiritual tradition. Shamanism is in everyone’s DNA and our collective consciousness, if we go back far enough. And many of us have been deeply touched by modern iterations of these ancient traditions, in my case, Native American spirituality largely from the Plains Indians, and more specifically from the Lakota tribe. Roger has also done extensive trainings, and of course literally wrote the book on the subject. This is a beautiful and fun conversation as well as being informative and touched by magic—or the Spirit that runs through all things. It also goes to show us that spirituality is not a recent human manifestation but can be traced back to our earliest ancestors. To be human is to be spiritual. Even being an agnostic or atheist is a spiritual stance. You just can’t get away from it.
